Social Enterprise in Education & Learning Conference 2011 hailed a success!
SEWM CIC hosted a one day conference on Friday 21st October 2011 at Q3 Academy which has been hailed a great success by delegates, speakers and exhibitors alike. The aim of the conference was to inspire and engage teachers and educators in how they include social enterprise within the curriculum, and provide awareness and insight of the diversity of projects across the Midlands that exist in educational settings.
Sponsored by LSIS (Learning and Skills Improvement Service), Big Lottery Fund, Park View Business & Enterprise School, Q3 Academy and Create a Future, delegates had the opportunity of listening to inspirational speakers such as Melody Hossaini (InspirEngage International) and Jamie Dunn (Made by Young People). A vast range of workshops delivered added value and covered topics ranging from demystifying legal structures, to demonstrations of student-led CIC’s, and social entrepreneurs who talked through why they chose social enterprise and how they are making ethical trading a real option for business.
